Thomas Youden (Lyrics)

This here is a story
Everyone should know
About a man and a legend
Who lived in Bull Cove.
Back in the 1800's
When his house burnt down
He moved here from Brigus
To our small fishing town

Well we built him a cottage
And a little one room school
He taught the men navigation
And the kids the golden rules

Chorus (repeat)

Hey Thomas Youden
Did you ever know
How much your life meant
Down in Bull Cove?

He was born in England
A navy officer
He was captured by the French
For 7 years a prisoner

He used the spring from his pocket watch
To cut himself free, he escaped
Sailed on a ship and went to work
For the Hudson Bay Company

Chorus

He helped build a reputation
For the sea faring men
Who sailed out of Brigus
And across Newfoundland

Chorus
